Calm- Searching for Calm

Calm- doesn't seem to be too much of that around here lately.  Sometimes I feel like I'm on one of those carnival rides that just keeps getting faster & faster.  Most days as of late, I feel like life is spinning out of control.  Just when I think I have a grip- something happens that speeds it up a bit more.  Yes- I know you all have heard this before.  Yes- I bring a lot of it on myself because I set goals for myself and being very competitive- I have a hard time loosing- even to myself.  I have a hard time saying no, or putting things on the back burner.  Seems that when I commit to something & it's taking priority & then I take on another thing- I never push anything to a lower priority & before I know it- everything in my life is an pressing matter.

So when it came to finding calm for today- that was a hard one for me.  As with all these Poetic Winter prompts I searched the internet for inspiration.  I found tons of things that fit what I felt embodied calm- I just don't have those types of places nearby.  I then searched my archives and while many of the things I posted for Solitude I thought fit for today- I obviously wanted to post different images.
Sunsets - they are usually calm if you take the time to stop & enjoy them

I know I posted this earlier this week- but really- being surrounded by several miles of salt flats will bring calm- unless you are the type of person to panic when you are in the middle of nowhere.

Finding the moon still out after sunrise is something I really cherish.
Before the hustle of the neighborhood gets going-
it's so calming to be outside hearing nothing but the birds & the click of the shutter

Then I found these images of Mono Lake, Ca from our quick trip last summer.
Can't really get more calm than a dead sea.

Then I decided that for my new capture of the week I wanted it to show where I find my calm.  When life gets like it has been I have to stop & find my center.  I know that turning to scripture is the only way to truly steady my core.  It helps me to remember that all these things that are making life seem like a jumbled mess (which is hard to deal with when one is a such a control/ organized freak like myself) are all because the Lord's Grace has fallen on me- on our family.  I can't complain- all I can do is be thankful, grateful & appreciative.  The blessings have been abundant by our standards.  So instead of praying for calm- I will continue to pray for all this to continue & for the Lord to not take away these Graces- but to just teach me how to better handle it all.

These are all so calming. The landscapes you see everyday are so different from where I live. Would love to wake up early and gaze out at those glorious mountains.

Hope you have a fabulous Friday.

Like you, I also searched the web for inspiration... and nothing I found or saw in my head as perfect examples came to fruition. So, I had to do it lish style...

These are all wonderful examples you found. Love the idea of turning to scripture. And that second photo of the salt flats makes me want to go there.

Great job, girl. I know that these have not been easy prompts and you have given it your all in spite of your hectic life. Thanks so much for your continued support!

Hugs, lish

Gina, these are beautiful. They certainly do bring me a feeling of peace and calm, especially the first photo. I'm going through the same thing you are at the moment. I've taken on way too much work and I'm struggling with trying to balance it all...motherhood, marriage, work. It's a lot. In fact, I'm leaving for AZ tomorrow morning and I still have one more article to finish. (I took on 4 different projects last week. I think I need my head examined.) Here's to hoping that we both get a grip on things soon so we can enjoy a little bit of calm in our lives. Have a great day and thanks again for joining us in the Poetic Winter Photo Challenge.
