What You Find at 2 a.m.

This past weekend the hubs was on call.  Saturday night we went to sleep as usual. At 2 a.m. the phone rang. He had to head out to take care of some things I can't disclose. I walked him out & you would think that I would have gone straight back to bed.  NOPE! The sky was so pretty.  The glow from Vegas over the mountain was beautiful against the clouds & I just had to take a moment or two to capture the beauty.  I was even more excited when I uploaded the shots & saw that I picked up the beam of light from the Luxor.  We do normally see it from here- (even through Vegas is 70 miles from here & we have a mountain range in-between) but I was pleased to see that the lens picked it up too.  I love that even in the middle of the night- there are things to capture if you are paying attention.  They are like little photographic treats for those that happen to be out.

I also have to mention (because I am so stinkin' excited about it) that I was featured on Simple as That this week for this shot of my daughter that I posted on Saturday (catch it here).  I love Rebecca & her blog.  She is so amazing in so many ways. If you have not been over to see her- I strongly encourage you to head on over.  I promise you will leave with a huge batch of inspiration & a smile on your face.

Wow...those are magnificent. I am quite impressed you can see the Vegas lights from 70 miles away...though I suppose I am not shocked...

Gorgeous night sky! Yay for you being able to forego sleep for a few minutes to capture it!

LOVE both shots! I cannot believe you were awake enough to grab a camera and get a shot like that. Mine would have been blurry and all over the place. LOL! I might have to pay attention to the sky tonight before bedtime - though, it's dark and raining here. Maybe I'll get lucky..... :)

Great sky shot! I've never taken a sky shot and had the stars show up. How do you do that? Please...(begging)...share your settings.

Love the shot of your daughter. I had to go look at the earlier post with these shots. She looks like a little model. I think she knows what to do with that camera pointed at her.

Hey, well done for being alert enough to capture such a beautiful picture at 2am. And well done also for having your photo recognised on Rebecca's simple things round up - well deserved.

Congrats! I love both shots, and think it’s cool that the lights of Vegas help backlight the mountains between you. So pretty.
