Ashley asked us to use a light box for this week's photo for Tutorial Tuesday. Okay... I like using the light box. I created mine a long while back & I have to say- when I really want to focus on just the subject in mind- no distracting background - it's my "go-to" piece of equipment. My set up is super fancy- it sits on a TV tray positioned in front of our huge windows in the media room. That room gets awesome indirect light & then I usually put a lamp on the other side of the box to balance the light & reduce shadows as much as I can. I told you- it's a super elaborate set-up. :) But it gets the job done & that is all I really care about.
There were so many things I thought I might capture- but then my daughter came out & showed me her squinkies. She had a handful of these tiny little toys - but I was drawn to the farm animals. They crack me up. They are only about as big as the fingernail on my index finger- and apparently they now make even tinier ones. Since I love them so much- I decided to make them my subject for today. I have also been very conscious about my rule of thirds & negative space in an effort to make it a habit- just like checking my settings before shooting. I know it's just as important- so I am focusing heavily on it.

Would having a lightbox be of much use if I don't often shoot small objects but more people?
I really want to do this! Your photo is perfect!
Love that you kept your shot in the rule of thirds and the negative space. It def. adds more interest and visual appeal...which I didn't do dangit. lol. hahah. Love your subject for this shot to. Beautiful shot in the box friend!!

I have had the shooting doldrums lately and haven't been picking up my camera as much as I could... I might have to engineer one of these lightboxes and have some fun!

I have a love/hate relationship with squinkies. Along with all the other little toys that litter my house! They are cute though... and you've done a wonderful job of capturing them!! =)
