Now on to today's challenge...............WHITE
We are coming to the end of Shades of Autumn- how sad. Doesn't it seem like Fall is the shortest season??!!
I wasn't sure what I was going to post for today- because we are months away from getting any sort of dusting of snow around here. I looked all over & thought I would have to settle on this shot of the moon I captured the other day.
Then the hubs played a little hooky a few days ago & we decided to take advantage of the nice weather & less tourists & head to Badwater in Death Valley, CA. It is only 2 short hours from here & totally worth it. If we had not been in a loaner car while our van was in the shop- we would have stayed all day out there. It was nearly 80 degrees & no wind, which is almost unheard of out there. It certainly gave me the solitude I was craving- until a huge tour bus full of people came out right to us out on the flats & wanted to strike up a convo- seriously- I can't even get completely away from society in the middle of a 5 mile long stretch of salt flats. :)
Look closely- you can see the sign on the mountain that shows where sea level is.
The first shot shows the perspective from where we were parked & the second so you can read the sign.
This was walking out - you see those people at the farthest point, we went past them & shot the rest of these.
This was the view about half of the way walking back- I was seriously regretting my shoe choice at this point.
Our car was at the base of the mountain.
This is my favorite shot of the week- I just love seeing my shoes there in the middle of nowhere.
It also means that my feet were no longer hurting :)
Although the salt is not as soft as one might think. Especially on bare feet. Like walking on crystals.
