Today's Monday- so even though it's a holiday- there is lots to post about!

First my list of 10- this week is all about animals.  My kids LOVE animals- so I went to them for little tidbits of info to share with you.  What do you know- I learned something today!!

1. The duckbill platypus has no navel (this was some useless piece of info I learned in HS- go figure)
2. Within less than 1 hour after birth- zebra babies can stand & run.
3. Some hummingbird nests are no bigger than a quarter.
4. Raccoons & squirrels often have their babies in holes in trees.
5. Many kinds of snakes hatch out of their eggs ready to deal w/ the world & never know their parents at all.
6. Sea otter babies are born ashore.
7. When scorpion babies are born, their mother carries them on her back- as many as a dozen at a time.
8. When less than a month old- a baby skunk can spray an enemy.
9. Most birds sing a song that is special to it's own kind.
10. A cat's whiskers are sensitive- like the tips of your fingers.

Here's our tux kitty- Butler.  He's 18 pounds!!

Now for Monday Rewind

A little more sharing for Monday- the moon finally made it's appearance.  I will have the sliver I captured with the new lens posting tomorrow.  Can't wait for it to get a little larger so I can really capture all the beautiful detail it has.  But I thought these were pretty too.

Now on to the hop.

love the picture of the kitty. I am such a cat person! I used to get so sad when I saw cats whose whiskers were cut off and they would often run into walls at the pound or rescue places. Hope you have a wonderful weekend friend! It is supposed to rain today so I am not sure what we are going to do yet;0.

Ugh, the scorpion :) It came up on my list too. When I was living in the rainforest my friend put his shirt on one day and discovered after it was on a mother scorpion with all of her babies on her back was under the collar of the shirt! That memory haunts me, still gives me chills when I think about it.

Butler is quite the handosme lad, & your night shots are incredible!!

So excited to be joining you for the 1st time! Yay.

That scorpion factoid reminded me of the 'refrigerator' ant (no, not called that, but basically his purpose) who attaches himself, upside down, in one of the ant colony's chambers so that other ants can come inject food into his body to feed the rest of the colony & the queen. That ant essentially becomes a refrigerator and can no longer move. Funny what we remember from a biology research paper from Freshman year! lol

Your Butler is adorable! :> This is my first time seeing your Monday link up. I'll have to keep it in mind on down the road!
